Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Effective: 13 October 2026 (version 2026-10-15)
TRY Health LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"), operates the TRY Fitness mobile and web app ("App") and tryhealth.io. This policy explains the consumer health data the App collects, why we collect it, where it comes from, who it is shared with, how we ask for your consent, and the rights you have over it. It is written for the Washington My Health My Data Act, Connecticut's consumer health data provisions and Nevada's consumer health data law, and it applies to everyone who uses the App wherever they live.
It supplements our Privacy Policy. Where the two differ about health data, this policy controls. Everything else about your account — retention periods, security, children's privacy, your rights under other laws — is in the Privacy Policy and applies here too.
1. The health data we collect, and why
"Consumer health data" means information that identifies your physical or mental health, including bodily measurements, vital signs and readings, and anything we infer from them. In the App that is:
We do not collect health data we do not need for a feature you are using, and we never use any of it for advertising, marketing, or to build a profile of you for anyone else.
2. Where it comes from
- You — what you type, pick or photograph in the App, including your onboarding answers and check-ins.
- Apple Health (iPhone) and Health Connect (Android) — only after you allow it on your phone's own permission sheet, and only the data types named on that sheet: date of birth, biological sex, height (read once, if you choose "Fill from Apple Health" during onboarding), steps, sleep, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, body weight, active energy and workouts. The TRY Apple Watch app writes your workouts, heart rate and calories back to Apple Health so they count toward your Activity rings.
- Your watch, scale or other wearable — through Apple Health or Health Connect, never directly.
- Your coach, if you have one — a coach can set up your profile (including body measurements) and write notes about your training.
3. Who it is shared with
We never sell your health data, never share it for advertising, and have no affiliates that receive it. It leaves your account only in these ways:
- A coach you link. If you accept a coach, they can see your workouts, programs, nutrition, body metrics, check-ins and the health readings the App keeps for you (steps, sleep, resting heart rate, HRV), for as long as the link is active. Two things need your own switch first: progress photos ("Share progress photos") and AI check-in summaries ("AI summaries for my coach"), both in Profile → Sharing & privacy and both off until you turn them on. Coaches are independent businesses, not TRY; under our Terms they must stop using your data and keep no copies outside the App when you revoke access. Revoke a coach at any time from your Profile.
- A group you join. Members of an accountability group you join can see your daily step totals for that week, if your goal counts steps.
- Members you share a post with. A workout you choose to post carries its heart-rate summary on the card. Nothing is posted until you tap Post, and you pick who sees it.
- The services that run the App, each under data-processing terms that limit it to providing its service to us:
- Supabase — our database and authentication; every record above is stored there.
- Cloudflare R2 — stores your photos, videos and voice notes in a private bucket, served through short-lived links.
- Google Gemini, and OpenAI as a backup — build your programs, read your meal photos and food text, check the optional mid-workout photo, and write your coach's AI check-in summary (only if you switched it on). They process what each feature sends them for that answer and do not use it to train their models.
- Sentry — error reporting. It receives technical error details tied to your account ID, not your health records, though an error's own message can incidentally contain a value involved in the failure.
- When the law requires it — to comply with a subpoena, court order or legal obligation, or to protect someone's safety.
Each of these services is named with more detail in Section 2 of our Privacy Policy.
4. How we ask for your consent
We ask for your consent to collect health data on a dedicated screen in the App, shown before the body-measurement questions and before any Apple Health or Health Connect permission sheet — not through acceptance of our Terms of Service. The screen says:
TRY will collect your body measurements, workout heart rate, sleep and other health readings to build and track your training. We share them only with a coach or group you choose to join and with the services that run the App (listed in our Health Data Privacy Policy). We never use them for advertising. You can withdraw at any time in Profile → Sharing & privacy.
[I agree] [Not now]
"Not now" means we collect no body measurements or health readings; the App still works for logging workouts, and we ask again only at the next moment a feature needs them. We record the date and version of the consent you gave. Sharing with a coach, a group or other members happens only when you take the step that starts it — accepting the coach, joining the group, posting the workout — and AI summaries for a coach and progress-photo sharing each have their own switch, off by default.
Withdrawing. Turn off "Allow TRY to collect health data" in Profile → Sharing & privacy. From then on the App stops syncing Apple Health or Health Connect, stops asking for your weight, and switches off AI summaries for your coach. You can also revoke Apple Health or Health Connect access on your phone, remove your coach or leave a group from your Profile, and delete individual photos, logs or your whole account. Withdrawing does not undo processing that already happened, but it stops new collection, and you can delete what we hold (section 5).
5. Your rights
- Access. See the health data we hold about you in the App, or ask us for a copy and for the list of the third parties and affiliates (there are none) with whom we have shared it.
- Withdraw consent. As described in section 4, at any time, as easily as you gave it.
- Delete. Delete individual entries in the App, or your whole account under Profile → Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your health data from our live database; copies in storage and backups are removed as described in our Privacy Policy and, for Washington residents, within six months at the latest. We also tell the services in section 3 that hold it to delete it.
- Correct. Change your profile, logs and notes in the App at any time.
- Appeal. If we decline a request, reply to our answer and say you want to appeal. We respond within 45 days and tell you how to contact your state attorney general if you disagree with the outcome.
- No discrimination. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any right, use the App or email support@tryhealth.io from the address on your account. We answer within 45 days.
6. How long we keep it
Health data is kept for as long as your account is active and deleted when you delete it or your account, with the exceptions and periods set out in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy (for example, meal photos are removed 10 days after upload). We keep no health data after deletion except where the law requires us to.
7. Changes
If we change what health data we collect, why, or who we share it with, we will ask for your consent again in the App before the change applies to you, and update the version and effective date above. Smaller changes are posted here.
