Use TRY with Claude or ChatGPT
Link your TRY account to the AI assistant you already use. It can read the training and nutrition you allow, answer questions about it, and make the changes you ask for, such as logging a workout, building a program or setting up a gym. You choose what it can do, and you can undo its changes or disconnect it at any time.
TRY Fitness is a workout and nutrition tracking app (iPhone, Android and web, at fitness.tryhealth.io). Its MCP connector lets a TRY Pro member use their own TRY data in Claude or ChatGPT. The remote MCP server address is https://kdzumhexinpkefvlegtv.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp. It uses OAuth sign-in with dynamic client registration, so no client ID, secret or API key is needed. This help page (tryhealth.io/mcp) is not the server address; don't paste it into Claude or ChatGPT.
You can't add the connector for the member. They add it themselves in their own app's settings: in Claude, Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector (on claude.ai or the Claude desktop app); in ChatGPT, Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server (on chatgpt.com in a web browser; ChatGPT's phone app can't add one). A TRY sign-in page then opens, where the member chooses what you may do. Only Claude and ChatGPT can connect, and the member needs TRY Pro. The full steps and fixes for common problems are below.
- You need TRY Pro. The AI itself runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT account.
- Claude: add TRY on claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app. After that it also works in Claude's phone app.
- ChatGPT: add TRY on chatgpt.com in a web browser. ChatGPT's phone app can't add it.
https://kdzumhexinpkefvlegtv.supabase.co/functions/v1/mcp
The address ends in supabase.co because TRY's servers run on Supabase. When you connect, the sign-in page that opens is TRY's own, at fitness.tryhealth.io.
Add TRY in Claude
On claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app:
Go to Customize → Connectors (claude.ai/customize/connectors). In the desktop app, select Customize in the sidebar, then Connectors.
Select Add custom connector. On some accounts it is under + Add, or Add → Custom → Web.
Name it TRY Fitness, paste the connector address above (the one ending in /functions/v1/mcp), and select Continue.
Keep the sign-in settings Claude picks. If it asks how to set up the OAuth client, choose Register automatically. You don't need a client ID or secret. Then select Add.
Select Connect. A TRY page opens: sign in, choose what Claude can do, and tap Connect.
In a chat, select + under the message box, choose Connectors, and check that TRY Fitness is on. Then ask, for example, "How has my bench press changed this month?"
- A free Claude account can add one custom connector.
- On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds TRY first, under Organization settings → Connectors. You then find it under Customize → Connectors and select Connect.
- Claude asks before it changes anything. In the connector's settings you can set each kind of action to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked.
Add TRY in ChatGPT
On chatgpt.com in a web browser:
Open Plugins in the sidebar (chatgpt.com/plugins).
Select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
Name it TRY Fitness. Under Connection, paste the connector address above (the one ending in /functions/v1/mcp). For authentication, choose OAuth. You don't need a client ID or secret.
Read OpenAI's warning, tick I understand and want to continue, and select Create as a plugin.
Install the plugin and connect it. A TRY page opens: sign in, choose what ChatGPT can do, and tap Connect.
In a chat, type @ and pick TRY Fitness, or choose it from the + menu.
- OpenAI is still changing which ChatGPT plans can add a custom server. If you don't see Add custom MCP server under Plugins, your plan doesn't offer it yet. On some plans ChatGPT can read your TRY data but can't make changes.
- ChatGPT's permission choices are under Settings → Plugins → Permissions. Choose Always ask if you want it to check with you before every change.
What each permission means
The TRY page you see when you connect lists these switches. You can change them later in the TRY app under Profile → Connected apps, and the change applies to the AI's next request.
What a connected AI can never do: touch payments, deposits, subscriptions or referral rewards; delete your logged workouts, meals or weigh-ins, or your account; see other members' data; send messages to anyone; or use admin tools.
If something doesn't work
- "Part of TRY Pro". Connecting needs TRY Pro. Get Pro in the TRY app, then go back to Claude or ChatGPT and connect again.
- The AI says a permission is off. In the TRY app, open Profile → Connected apps, choose the app, and turn on the switch it names (for example Log workouts or Share health data). The next request uses the new setting; you don't need to reconnect.
- "Link expired" or "Connect again". The sign-in link works once. Go back to Claude or ChatGPT and select Connect (or Reconnect) on TRY Fitness to get a new one.
- The connection stopped working. If you disconnected it in TRY, open the connector in Claude (Customize → Connectors) or ChatGPT (Settings → Plugins) and connect again. If your TRY Pro ended, the connection is paused and starts working again by itself when you have Pro again.
- "Can't connect this app". TRY works with Claude and ChatGPT only for now. Start from claude.ai, the Claude desktop app or chatgpt.com.
- No "Add custom MCP server" in ChatGPT. Use chatgpt.com in a web browser, not the phone app. If it is still missing, your ChatGPT plan doesn't offer custom servers yet.
- Claude won't let you add another connector. A free Claude account can have one custom connector. Remove another one first, or use a paid plan.
- The TRY page asks you to sign in. Sign in with the same email you use in the TRY app. If it shows the wrong account, select Not you? Sign out and sign in again.
- The AI can read but can't change anything in ChatGPT. Some ChatGPT plans allow custom servers to read only.
Checking and undoing changes
- For bigger changes, such as a new program or logging a whole workout, TRY shows the AI a preview first, so it can check with you before saving.
- Every change appears in the TRY app under Profile → Connected apps, in plain words, with Undo for 7 days. Undo isn't offered once the same thing has been changed again since.
- When the AI logs a meal for you, TRY estimates it the same way it does when you log a meal in the app.
Disconnecting
- In TRY: Profile → Connected apps → choose the app → Disconnect. Its access ends at once.
- In Claude: Customize → Connectors → TRY Fitness → Disconnect. To take TRY off your list, use the ••• menu and choose Remove.
- In ChatGPT: Settings → Plugins → TRY Fitness → Disconnect.
Disconnecting stops new access. It can't take back what the AI already received; that stays with Anthropic or OpenAI under their privacy policies.
Questions
Do Anthropic or OpenAI get my TRY data?
Yes, the data your switches allow, when the AI asks for it in a chat you started. TRY sends nothing else, and never your payment details or other members' data. What Anthropic or OpenAI do with it, including whether your chats are used to improve their models, is set by their own privacy policies and your settings there: Anthropic's Privacy Policy, OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Is my health data shared?
Only if you turn on Share health data for that AI app. It is off until you do, and it is separate for each app. Your meals and the weight you log are covered by the nutrition switches instead.
Does TRY see my chats?
No. TRY only receives the requests the AI makes to TRY, such as "log 3 sets of bench at 185", and keeps a list of them so you can see and undo changes.
What happens if my TRY Pro ends?
The connection pauses. The AI can no longer read or change your TRY data, but your switches and the list of changes are kept, so it picks up again when you get Pro back. You can still undo changes and disconnect in the TRY app while it is paused.
Who can connect?
Any TRY Pro member. TRY is for people 18 and over; members who joined at 13 to 17 with a parent's or guardian's permission before 26 October 2026 need that permission to connect, and the AI app's own age rules apply too. Logging meals through the AI isn't available under 18, as in the app.
Can I use another AI app?
For now TRY works with Claude and ChatGPT only. If you try another app, TRY's sign-in page will say so.
Does it cost extra?
Not from TRY; it is part of TRY Pro. The AI runs on your own Claude or ChatGPT account, so that plan's limits apply.
Something it did looks wrong.
Undo it in the TRY app under Profile → Connected apps. If you think the connection was misused, disconnect it and email support@tryhealth.io.
Connecting an AI app is covered by Section 20 of our Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. TRY Fitness gives training information, not medical advice, and neither does an AI app you connect. Claude is a product of Anthropic and ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI; neither company makes or endorses TRY.
